Is anyone born a JW?
Perhaps it is the years of calculated brainwashing that make one a Jehovah's Witness.
first up, happy new year .
hi everyone, ok i guess this is controversial, but im doing it as therapy for me - so im not bitter about the way i was raised.
plus i want to see if i can be the op of an "epic thread"!!.

i moved in with my cousin deb and her husband bobby at the first of 2012.. this mean i didn't live alone any longer.
that was both a good and a not so good thing!.
i eat home cooked meals.
Terry I’m glad your infected jaw is better. All the best for the new year.
This year has been good for me. As I explained to a lazy friend who calls me a lucky bastard - the harder I work the luckier I get.
During 2012 I made a point of turning down invitations from people that I don’t enjoying being with, and seeing more of the people who are worth seeing.
I have become more reflective and aware of how wonderful being alive is. It is too precious to waste with people who are boring, or perhaps I mean selfish.
My excuse to them - I don’t need an excuse - this is my life. I just say that I prefer to be at home, alone if necessary.
As you Americans love to say, “Go figure.” Sometimes it's the simple things that that bring the most satisfaction.
I have not walked as much as I usually do, so today I went on a long hike with my very fit and determined wife.
We are resolved to do more walking, rambling and less drinking this year. To be more precise in how we spend our time and who we spend it with.

looking back now it is almost as if i became an atheist but still believed in my religion.
Welcome to the forum jonno12225
"My deconversion story is a bit unique in the sense of me turning atheist but still believing in my religion."
That's some neat trick.
how it works:.
theist: let me explain, god is energy.. atheist: okay but i thought energy was.. (read up the textbook definition).
theist: thats not what i mean!
They have told you a lot of fibs about God. God is love, peace, harmony. He is whatever you want him to be. He is everywhere man, you just have to look around. He is in you, he is in me, he is outside of everyone. He is sex, food, dope, anything that you enjoy. He is energy, atomic, power, yeah awesome. You just gotta chill and feel the vibes man.
it may seem a strange question, but when i served as an elder i personally knew of about a dozen elders and servants children who joined various wicca groups or became buddists rather than leave to become agnostic or another "christian" denomination.. the ones who became involved with witchcraft did so in groups of jw children intregued by all the talk of satan's and the demon's power etc.
in the org.. the future buddists seemed turned off by the politics, and mean spiritness in halls.. i just thought of this after seeing the new dismal yearbook numbers and looking at facebook pages of some of the ex jws i know.. was this simply a california thing or is it worldwide?.
After leaving Jehovah's Witnesses 27 years ago, I looked into various Christian approaches to spirituality. Then examined Buddhism, Zen, the way of the Tao and various eastern offerings which impressed me greatly.
Nowadays I have lost interest in the whole idea of adopting any particulate spiritual discipline. I just live my life and enjoy the awesome beauty of nature. My mind is largely empty of ideas and devoid of all prescribed belief. In that silence and space I have found a greater tranquillity and appreciation of existence than ever before.

1. my husband's time is finite, it's wasted on spouses arguing over money, sex or family mattters with stupid home visits.. .
i hate people's constant open hand for money, it's the weak individuals asking others to pull their weight.
my family worked extra hours instead of begging the strong members for district assembly money, cat food for seven cats or tiny little rag-a-muffins weiner dogs.. .
Jehovah's Witnesses - They’re nothing but a pack of cards dreaming of a wonderland.
two young pioneers in the congregation decided to get married.. all the congregation were overjoyed with this--and they all clubbed together and bought the young couple a toaster..
Two young pioneers were thirsting after righteousness so they walking into a bar and said, “Ouch!”
It was an iron bar.
It is true I live in the UK. Merry Christmas to you too tec/Tammy - also Cantleave and all you other wonderful people out there.
please bear with me here.
it's been some time since i accessed the forum and 8 years since i really read any of the wts pubs or attended any meetings.
so, in a nutshell, if someone will indulge me, what's the latest twists the wts has come up with on their doctrines, teachings, etc?.
kozmo " So, in a nutshell, if someone will indulge me, what's the latest twists the WTS has come up with on their doctrines, teachings, etc?"
The latest doctrine that supersedes all others and is the only teaching that must to be focused on and preached is:
All your spare money belongs to the Watchtower Society. It must be surrendered without delay as they are short of funds due to the loss of revenue from the sale of publications. This was caused by them having to stop charging for literature in order to keep their charity status.
